Watermark PDF

Upload a PDF, customize a text watermark and download the updated document.

Add a visible text watermark to every PDF page

Use Watermark PDF when a document should clearly show its status: COPY, DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, PAID, SAMPLE or an internal reference. This is useful for review copies, client previews, invoices, contracts, training materials and documents that should not be mistaken for the final version.

The tool shows a live preview on the first page while you edit the watermark text, font, size, opacity, rotation angle and placement. Choose Center for one prominent mark or Tile when the text should repeat across the page. The watermark is then applied to the exported PDF pages.

How to add a PDF watermark

  1. 1Upload the PDF and enter textChoose one PDF file, then type the watermark text, for example COPY, DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL.
  2. 2Adjust the look and placementSelect Helvetica, Times or Courier, change text size and opacity, set the rotation angle and choose Center or Tile placement.
  3. 3Apply the watermarkClick Add watermark to write the text watermark into the PDF and download the updated document.

Watermarking happens locally

The source PDF and watermark text stay in your browser while the document is processed. ClickPDF does not upload review copies, contracts or internal drafts to a server. The preview is only a guide; always check the downloaded file before sending it externally.

Watermark PDF questions

What is the difference between Center and Tile?

Center places one large watermark around the middle of the page. Tile repeats the watermark text across the page, which is better for drafts or confidential review copies.

Can I control how visible the watermark is?

Yes. Use the Opacity slider to make the watermark subtle or more visible, and adjust the text size and rotation angle to match the document layout.

Can I add an image or logo watermark?

This stage supports text watermarks only. You can choose the text, font, size, opacity, angle and placement.

Is a watermark the same as document protection?

No. A watermark is a visible label, not strong access control. Use Protect PDF if the file should require a password to open.
